During your studies, you may be stumble upon certain hurdles. We, the AStA, are here to help you by offering free counseling and directing you to counseling centers.

Here is a brief overview of advisory services with further links:

Equal Opportunity Office

The Equal Opportunity Office is committed to equal opportunities and offers various counseling services on topics such as accessibility, disadvantage compensation, LGBTQIA, and anti-discrimination.

Ombudsperson

The ombudsperson for students and faculty, Thies Reinck, is considered a mediator as well as a moderator in conflict situations between different interest groups. Problems are handled anonymously and confidentially by the ombudsperson.

Psychological Counseling

The Psychological Counseling Service (PBS) of the Studentenwerk OstNiedersachsen helps with personal or study-related crises and is available to all students free of charge. They offer supportive, accompanying, and clarifying counseling in individual conversations, couples’ conversations, special group offerings, and in our Open Office Hours.

Legal Advice

Problems with lecturers? Issues with exams or other assessments? Our legal advice service will help you with all your legal questions. Just sign up for the list hanging outside the AStA office and come to the next appointment.

Financing

If you have questions or problems with the financing of your studies, please contact our BAföG- und Finanzierungsberatung (BAföG and finance counseling). Not only do they always have an open ear for all your concerns, but they are also very knowledgeable in the field.

Studying with a child

You want to know how to reconcile family and studying? You are pregnant and need advice? The EliStu (Eltern im Studium) advice center will be happy to help you with any questions you may have about studying with a child.
In addition, the Studentenwerk in Lüneburg operates two-day care centers, also with crèche places.

Studying with a handicap

The contact person for students with disabilities, severe disabilities or chronic illnesses is Dr. Klaus-Ulrich Guder. You can find more information here.

The AStA offers free student counseling for students with chronic illnesses and/or physical/psychological impairments. More information here.

The AStA society ARCHIPEL also helps with questions about studying with chronic illness, handicaps and inclusion, mental illness, and learning disabilities.

Furthermore, the portal www.barrierefrei-studieren.de can be used to search for suitable funding opportunities for financial support, technical aids, needs-based work equipment, assistance services, and housing and leisure.

There is also an option of pre-selectionfor, among others, students with disabilities or chronic illnesses.
