Fundamental decision on sustainability
Last updated 5. March 2025 | Sprecherinnen
The AStA meeting on 03.03.2021 unanimously adopted the sustainability policy decision. This includes a commitment by the AStA to more sustainable consumer behavior. The policy decision is based on the future sustainable financial regulations of the student body, which were adopted in the first reading by the StuPa in December. The new sustainability policy decision comes into force on 15.03.2021 and loses its effect as soon as a sustainable financial regulation with similar regulations has been finally adopted by the StuPa.
Here is a clear and simplified summary of the most important points of the sustainability policy decision. For a complete overview, you can find the document here.
- Food must be bought organic, except food from bakeries, catering, delivery services and restaurants.
- Drinks must be purchased in glass or reusable (8 & 15 ct) packaging, with the exception of milk, milk substitutes and large containers over 5 liters.
- Repairs, loans and used equipment should be preferred to new purchases.
- Textiles must be organic and fairly produced or from Europe.
- Paper must be 100% recycled paper.
- Bus and train travel should be preferred to car travel, and car journeys should be offset against emissions.
- For exceptions, an application can be submitted to the financial officer, this can also be done retrospectively.
The fundamental decision on sustainability should be regularly evaluated in order to establish a sensible approach to the topic within the student body in the long term.
