On January 7, 2019, the LandesAStenKonferenz (hereinafter: LAK) met with the Lower Saxony Minister for Science and Culture, Björn Thümler (CDU), to submit its proposals for amending the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (hereinafter: NHG). As a law, the NHG provides the framework for the everyday life of students at universities and colleges in Lower Saxony.
In a discussion with Mr. Thümler, the LAK students put forward a total of 19 demands: The gender equality mandate should not only mention women and men because of the third gender; the introduction of an independent complaints office; the necessity of a public advertisement for a position in the presidium, as well as a renaming of the Studentenwerke to Student*innenwerke.
All requirements are listed in the PDF below
