AStA Newsletter #9
Last updated 5. March 2025 | Sprecherinnen
Dear students,
Let’s start the new decade. We hope you have had a good start to the new year and wish you all the best for this time!
Here at the AStA, we are starting a year full of projects, events and meetings. As every year, we look forward to your interest and even more to your participation in our departments!
Global underspend
This year, 17.4 million euros will most likely be saved in science throughout Lower Saxony. It should be clear that savings are fundamentally harmful, but fewer budget funds for the education sector will also have an impact on the coming years in our federal state. For this reason, many state senators and the state senators’ conference [LAK] have spoken out against these cuts. This demand against the Ministry’s cuts is supported by the Presidential Board of our university. https://www.asta-lueneburg.de/post/globale-minderausgabe-weniger-geld-fuer-die-uni-4311/
Lower Saxony Higher Education Act
The LandesAStenKonferenz is an association of student representatives from colleges and universities throughout Lower Saxony: www.lak.de . Through this state-wide representation, the student bodies not only regularly exchange information, they also speak with ministries and politicians.
In recent months, we have also been involved in the process of amending the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act as the AStA and have jointly formulated demands for the amendment of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act. You can view these on our website under Downloads. Among other things, Daryoush was at a meeting with Lower Saxony’s Education Minister Thümler to present him with a paper on the NHG together with other AStAs in Lower Saxony.
Survey on the Mensa
In January, we want to meet with the Mensa staff. In order to involve you in this discussion, you have the opportunity here via the following link: https://survey.leuphana.de/index.php/252254?lang=de to give us your feedback and suggestions for changes to the canteen. Remember that there is also a canteen survey every year in which you can also participate.
So much for our start to the new year!
Kind regards from building 9
Lisa, Anna, Daryoush and Adrian
