SUBMIT PETITION NOW AT bafög50.de!

50 years is a proud age. BAföG, once a pioneering instrument for more equitable education thanks to its legal entitlement, has not held up well.
Only 11% of all students are now supported, many others have to work hard to finance their studies instead. Even those who receive funding are not without worries: for many, the amount is not enough at all due to high rents etc.. Others don’t even start their studies or are unable to complete their A-levels.

This must stop. BAföG must be completely overhauled for its 50th birthday. Back to a full grant with a funding amount that is sufficient for everyone and is set up in such a way that everyone who needs funding actually receives it.

All this has to change, and it has to change now! We need a fundamental reform. So that everyone, regardless of their wealth, can enjoy the education they choose. To make this a reality, we are launching a campaign for the 50th anniversary together with political youth organizations, university groups and trade union youth groups, among others.
