We, the PENG! invited to the meeting in front of building 9 on Wednesday, 30.01.2019. According to counts from Univativ, around 35 students were present to round off Spoun’s re-election. We are not satisfied with the process that has taken place, but we are looking ahead. <\/p>\n\n

It all started by playing a playlist on the theme of “new beginnings”. Carpets were also laid out for the later workshop and tea was served. After Inka Becker (PENG! speaker) briefly explained the plan for the next hour, Felix Englisch (student senator) gave a speech, which you can read at the end of this article. <\/p>\n\n

But we don’t always want to be against it. We also don’t want to kick the can down the road because we are dissatisfied with the procedure surrounding the re-election of the President <\/p>

That wouldn’t do anyone any good. And of course there are conflicts of interest between us students and the Presidential Board or other committees. But that’s not why we are opponents. Together, we want to continue to discuss the various issues respectfully and sensibly. Right now, two of our student representatives in the Senate are in talks with the Executive Board to discuss our and their points of criticism and how we can move forward. <\/p>Felix Englisch, Senator <\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n

Then it was time for the workshops. Each carpet had a topic area, which was brainstormed together. There were also slips of paper on which the participants could write down their thoughts and then put them in the ballot box. <\/p>\n\n

There was tea for the cold hands and music for the good mood. We had to turn it down at some point because the staff from Building 10 kindly informed us that they unfortunately had to work. But they thought the event was cool! <\/p>\n\n

Inka’s opinion on the number of participants:I wasn’t surprised that the turnout was much lower than at last week’s events. These took a lot of energy to prepare, which is why the organizing team for the current event was much smaller, which simply meant that much less advertising could be done. That’s why I was pleasantly surprised that there were so many people. I had prepared myself to be there with ten people and would still have had fun. It was a wonderful sign, which is important to show that we’re keeping at it. Of course, more people would have been even nicer, but we heard two wonderful speeches, designed a beautiful wishing urn and collected wonderful ideas. That already feels very good!<\/p>\n\n
